| Properties | A colorless and clear smoky liquid with a relative density of 1.574 (21 ℃), a melting point of -112 ℃, and a boiling point of 75.5 ℃. It is soluble in ether, benzene, chloroform, carbon disulfide, and carbon tetrachloride. Exposed to humid air, it can be hydrolyzed into phosphite and hydrogen chloride, causing white smoke and deterioration. It reacts with oxygen to produce phosphorus oxychloride, and with chlorine to produce phosphorus pentachloride. When in contact with organic matter, it can ignite. Flammable, easily irritating to mucous membranes, corrosive, and toxic. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Use | Mainly used as raw materials for the production of glyphosate, water treatment agents, trichlorfon, dichlorvos, methamidophos, acephate, phosphorus oxychloride, phosphite, triphenyl phosphate, and triphenyl phosphate. Intermediates used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce drugs such as sulfadiazine (S.D) and sulfapentamethoxine (S.N.D). The dye industry serves as a comprehensive agent and catalyst.
